A moderated talk with Dr. Ayman Nijim
118 Elliot, 118 Elliot St., Brattleboro, VT

What does it mean to study and write about genocide while your own family and community are living through it?

Dr. Ayman Nijim, a Gazan scholar of liberation psychology, will bring together research, lived experience, and personal testimony to explore Gaza, collective trauma, and the human consequences of violence and displacement. Drawing on his doctoral work, written during the ongoing destruction of Gaza, he will consider how trauma affects individuals and communities across generations—and what dignity, justice, and collective survival mean in the face of profound loss.

The program will be a moderated conversation followed by audience questions. It offers an opportunity to hear directly from a scholar whose research is inseparable from the experience of his homeland and community.

Presented by the Windham World Affairs Council in collaboration with Southern Vermont for Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace VT-NH
